Apple Valley Hour of Code Event Huge Success!

1 Hour + 82 AVHS Students + 10 Professional Programmers + Pop & Snacks = 1000+ lines of code and a lot of fun!

More coding to come December 11 & 12 with all AVHS freshman 
completing an Hour of Code in their Math classes.

This is not your fathers shop class!


This is not your fathers shop class!  Technology, Engineering & Manufacturing teacher Kerry Blaine is now incorporating 21st century technology into his courses at Apple Valley High School.  This includes the use of a laser engraver on bats and other projects made in his period 7 woods class. Far greater use of modern manufacturing tools will be integrated into
 Technology, Engineering & Manufacturing and many other course with the opening of the new Fab Lab later this school year.

The Versatile Classroom

The traditional classroom setup today is similar to what it was at the birth of public education and that's not necessarily a bad thing. But today we often have other needs or want to try different activities in our classroom, but our cumbersome seating doesn't easily allow it.

This year a number of classrooms at AVHS have been outfitted with "node chairs" and they can make for easy reconfigurations on the fly!
